Easy to install. Good workmanship. The difference between Hi and low intensity is not great but there is enough light for reading.

The lamp directions show a screw to hold the lamp together but none was included so it falls apart.

Very disappointing lamp. Barely shines any light. Aesthetically pleasing but not very functional. Doesn't exactly light up the room.

Functionally, this is just what we wanted; this thing is not a room lamp; it's not a flood light. It will NOT light up the entire room. It's a spot light. It leans over and puts light--and a lot of it--directly onto my Wife's cross-stitch and other crafts projects.

The lamp seems to be stable, and the little tray is reasonably handy although they specifically say that you aren't to put liquids--like a can of pop--on it, or anything else heavy. The manufacturer is obviously concerned about the lamp getting top-heavy, knocked over and being "responsible" for your carpet-cleaning bill.

The actual light provided by this lamp is just what they claim--terrific for viewing colors; nicely bright on full-brightness (we never use the half-brightness option); and the gridwork "lens" under the fluorescent bulb does a pretty good job of cutting glare for those around the person who's doing the craftwork.

Keep in mind that it's extremely unlikely that Verilux MAKES the special fluorescent bulb supplied in this lamp; just like I expect OTT-Lite doesn't make their special bulbs. Perhaps they're made in the same plant that makes the much-less-expensive Sylvania daylight bulbs. Who knows? I have no doubt that the bulbs--along with the rest of this lamp--are made by some nameless, faceless Communist Chinese factory employing twelve-year-olds at pennies per hour. If you're morally opposed to slavery, you might want to avoid supporting corporations that have built their business model on the backs of underprivileged third-world employees.

Which, in the end, is my only real complaint with this product and it's marketing through Amazon. I resent companies that import product from the Communists and/or resell those Communist products--and then "forget" to disclose that fact in the advertising. Communist China is about the most reprehensible country on Earth; and I really wish that Verilux and Amazon would quit being Communist Collaborators. I really like this product; I want to buy another for my workshop and a third for the upstairs but I resent the fact that I can't do that without supporting the hateful Commies.
