I can always depend on the quality and processing of any of the harvest that I have bought online from Amazon.com. And in this day and age of not always being able to depend on those qualities, I thank you very much.
Sincerely,

To start, I have no doubt that many people find this lamp reduces eye strain and makes working at a desk more comfortable.
That said, this lamp really makes my eyes and head hurt even more. It may be due to the lighting in my office; something about that lighting interacts with the light from the lamp. The light in my office is a combination of incandescent and glowing. If you have that combination in your office, this light may not be for you.
The lightbulbs that come with this lamp aren’t as “real sunshine” as I’ve seen in other lamps.
The lamp is also prohibitively expensive. For the price, it’s simply not worth it IMO. You may want to instead try a regular desk lamp and insert a full-spectrum lightbulb.

Recommended by the fellow who read the total Encyclopedia Brittanica and wrote about it (A. J. Jacobs, The Know-It-All), this lamp casts a amusing color of light. It’s kind of like the light cast by those ancient flash bulbs that used to sort of melt when we used them for flash photography. But for tired eyes, it’s a relief to read by this odd light. That Know-It-All knew what he was talking about. I recommend it, too.

The base takes up a bit more space on the desk than it looks like it would, like the switch that allows for 2 intensities of light.

Despite the negative reviews, I bought this lamp for my laundry room area (instead of replacing the ceiling fixture)to get a better view of my clothes to treat the stains. Nice bright light where I need it. I had bought a similar light from Lowe’s and my son said, “You should not look directly at that light bulb–it can burn out your retina!” I returned the light to Lowe’s and sent for the Verilux with what one reviewer called a “cheapy thing”; the diffuser that keeps my retina safe. It is a solid lamp–does not tip over and looks excellent.
