I must have gotten a defective lamp, because I could not get the bottom piece to screw into the base. Both my husband and brother in law tried and it did not work.

I have to return it and get another one.

Heavy enough that it does not tip over and gives a very good light.

The only thing that would be better is if we could switch off the top light on the bottom but for the price it is great.

Bought this at Target. Was OK at first. It screwed together easily. The thin shade on top and side were very bright, not really an uplight. But it soon fell apart in the middle of the pole. It seems where the pole screwed together, the threads weren’t deep enough or didn’t stick out far enough to keep them together. It wouldn’t stay together right in the middle of the pole and was cocked at an angle. I had every intention of returning it but I knocked it with the chair and it the top half of the lamp came crashing down. I’m not going to buy another because I didn’t like the light it gave off. And now I’ve read about fires in other reviews. yikes!

I dont understand how anyone could manage to write a bad review on this lamp. Mine was undamaged upon delivery, assembly took around 5 minutes, and the amount of light it produces is more than enough for my living room, which is roughly 20×15 square feet.

Although the torchiere does not come with a dimmer, it has 3 settings of increasing brightness. The side lamp only has one setting… and it is too bright if facing directly downwards on whatever you are reading. But to remedy this issue completely I angled the lamp more towards the wall.

Overall, this lamp is a great value considering what you pay for. I am planning on getting a second for my bedroom as well.

This is one of the cheapest bedroom lamp I encounter. And the quality is good, except that the switch is a little too tight.
